Everyday Heroes

I would like to personally thank a very special Lady in my life. Mrs. Kit Burnett is a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in the Lynchburg, Va School System. All too often its the little people that are not recognized enough in our school systems who have the biggest impact on our children. Without her help and support my girls may not have had the opportunities they've had. She has given them hope and encouragement to move forward as well as encouraging me to try to make a difference. Thank You Mrs Burnett for all you do...

Sincerely, Kim Carver

The Purpose Of The First Noelle:

The First Noelle was created in memory of our daughter, Miranda “Noelle” Henson. Noelle was a 17 yr. old Senior at Siegel High School in Murfreesboro, TN. She was a gifted honor student who attended Governor’s School at UTC the summer before her passing. She fell in love with The University of Tennessee Chattanooga during that summer and planned on attending UTC upon graduation in 2012. Noelle had a passion for special needs children and tutored many. She had planned on receiving a degree in education while pursuing a medical degree. Noelle believed in a “hands on” approach and wanted to be able to work with special needs children both from a medical & educational standpoint. She was also planning to receive a degree in Spanish and was well on her way before graduating. This dream was cut short. On the night of October 27th, 2011; while traveling by herself to her high school football game…Noelle was killed in a single vehicle accident down the road from our home.

In honor & memory of Noelle, The First Noelle was born. The First Noelle is a non-profit organization that collects kindergarten level books (usually level 1) to be labeled with a memorial sticker and redistributed to local kindergarten classes throughout Rutherford County. The books are collected through private donations by you the public. We accept new & like new books free of tears, tatters & doodles. During our first year of operation our goal was simply to distribute 1 book per child in 1 secretly adopted kindergarten class. Through your generous donations, we were able to distribute to 13 adopted classes at 2 schools with the children receiving 3 books a piece to take home.

The First Noelle was also able to set up a scholarship fund which has also been funded by private donations. This year, The First Noelle was able to grant a $1,000.00 scholarship to a Siegel High student that was chosen by a panel of teachers as meeting the qualification set by The First Noelle. We could not have done this without the generosity of you.

Our dream is to continue this journey. The First Noelle’s motto is : “Spreading a legacy One child & One book at a time”. We have a wish list set up through Amazon under The First Noelle (Tina Henson). We have also set up 2 accounts at FirstBank here in Murfreesboro, TN. One account is for The First Noelle Scholarship Fund and One is for The First Noelle general fund. The general fund is set up to off-set the costs of preparing, packaging, labeling, & distribution of the books. Please help us continue this dream of spreading Noelle’s legacy & her love for children. Thank You!...

God Bless our Heroes, Kim Carver
